T1DMV's story is one of turning personal challenge into collective strength. What began as one person's journey living with Type 1 Diabetes has grown into a movement supporting thousands across the Maldives.
Founded in 2025 by Aminath Abdul Rahman, T1DMV represents the culmination of over 30 years of lived experience and 18 years of professional advocacy—a vision to ensure no one faces diabetes alone across our nation of 1,200 islands.

A Personal Journey Begins
Aminath Abdul Rahman was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in her childhood, beginning a lifelong journey of learning to thrive with the condition in the Maldives.
Joining the Diabetes Society of Maldives
Aana joined the Diabetes Society of Maldives as Program Coordinator, marking the beginning of her professional advocacy career that would span 18 years.
Nationwide Impact & Programs
Led extensive initiatives including free health screenings, community awareness campaigns, and targeted programs for remote atolls, reaching over 100,000 people annually.
International Recognition
Represented the Maldives as international faculty at the JPEF Annual Diabetes Convention in India, speaking on collaborative care models and gaining recognition for her work.
15 Years of Service Celebrated
Colleagues at the Diabetes Society of Maldives celebrated Aana's 15-year milestone, recognizing her as a quiet force for change in diabetes advocacy.
T1DMV (Community One) Founded
Aana launched T1DMV to take her vision further—creating grassroots, patient-centered support free from institutional limits, with focus on Diabetes Circles, youth programs, and telemedicine.
